I am an Interfaith Minister and an artist.

I long to find expression of my creative self in spiritual work.  This may include writing, painting portraits, making fabric crafts, playing music, singing, dancing, or playing games. 

I am a science fiction geek and look forward to more actively participating in historical re-enacting.  Costumes make me happy.  Researching obscure points of ancient lore also makes me happy. 

My passion for cheese knows no bounds; I am enthralled by the dairy goodness.  Some of my favorites are New York Extra Sharp Cheddar, Horseradish Cheddar, Cave-Aged Gruyere, Morbier, Drunken Goat Cheese, Sheep or Goat Feta, and Wensleydale with fruit.  Unsurprisingly, then, one of my favorite holidays is the holy celebration of Cheesemas, every December. 

I am obsessively enamored of the hippopotamus.  It's an amazing animal, cute and deadly in wondrous combination.  One of my favorite rooms in the Metropolitan Museum of Art is the one that holds William, a blue faience hippo that is the Museum's unofficial mascot.  I visit him each time I am at the museum, if his gallery is open. 

He and his brethen inspired my college nickname and web domain, now my arts business: Painted Hippo Designs.

For those inclined to blogs, the main meat of mine is on Livejournal these days.  There can be found random commentary, fun memes, photos, and the occasional snippet of my novels-in-progress.
